PSP Screen Replacement.
After a couple of years
hard use our PSP suffered a drop to many and the
screen cracked. I decided to look for a replacement
unit and discovered an abundance of them on ebay.
£22 and a couple of days later it was with me. The
following description is what I did to replace our
screen. I hope it is of some use.

1) Unpack and
examine new LCD screen for damage.
2) Remove
the 6 screws shown with arrows making sure that you
remember where the different length ones go. One of
the screws is under the label where the battery sits
so you will need to scratch it away before you can
remove it.

3) Once you have
removed the screws turn the PSP over and the front
of the case will lift off. This may take a bit of a
fiddle due to crap and dirt holding the case
together but it does come of.

4) The screen is
held into place with 4 small metal clips located on
the sides of the screen. 2 at the top and 2 at the
bottom. To remove
the screen you have to push the clips in and lift
the screen out. The best way I found was to force
a small screwdriver between the screen and the
metalwork and lift that corner up. Once free the
screen will slide upwards as the bottom of the
screen is under the buttons at the bottom. This part
can be quite hard but you must be careful doing it as there is a
lot of circuitry and cables very close by.

5) The cables are
held in place by two black clasps. You have to lift
the clasps up (gently!!!) to release the cables.
(The left clasp in the picture is broken. If one of
the clasps in your PSP is broken you better start
saving up for a new PSP or a new motherboard.)

6) After opening
clasps the screen will just unplug and lift out.

7) Refitting the
new screen is the reverse of 5. Simply push ribbon
cables into the sockets and when fully inserted
clip the clasps down on them.

8) Fold screen
over and gently feed the bottom edge under the
buttons at the bottom of the PSP. Once in place
gently push the screen down. Each corner will click
into place. Try to do this with equal pressure on
all corners to help reduce twisting of the screen.

9) At this point I
tested mine just to make sure that it all worked ok.
After the test simply replace the case and screw it
back together. Job done.
