Oxford Maximiser 360T battery charger.

As winter is now upon us I decided that a battery monitor / charger would be a good idea. I looked to see what was available on the market and decided on an Oxford Maximiser 360T as it seemed to have all the functions that you could and would ever need. It will charge and maintain batteries from 1.2Ah to 125Ah.

Once connected to the battery the unit would 1. Test the battery was connected correctly. 2. Analyses the battery and diagnose its condition. 3. Attempt to recover heavily discharged batteries. 4. Rapid charge the battery if required up to a set voltage. 5. Check voltage retention of the battery. 6. Advise you of the battery condition. 7. Maintain the battery with a low current only if the voltage drops below a set level. All in all a very handy piece of equipment and also means that you can plug it in at the beginning of winter and nothing else needs to be done. Everything is automatic.

With the charger comes a set of leads that can be permanently connected to the battery. I did this and plugged the unit in. It ran through all the initial test functions in a second or so and then commenced rapid charging. At all times it shows you the voltage and the current being applied to the battery. After it had done this it dropped to maintenance mode and the current level dropped. Once at the set level of voltage the current went to zero and it was then monitoring the battery ever hour to see if the voltage level had dropped enough to instigate a charge cycle again. The unit has a total of 3 different charge modes for charging different types of batteries. There is Bike, Car and The unit woks fantastically and is the simplest thing to use.

My bike had been in the garage for 1 year without being started but being plugged into the maximiser and when I can to start it the battery was in tip top condition. Fantastic item would recommend to anybody.
